Heineken’s brewery in Tangerang is now powered by rooftop solar.

At Heineken’s facilities in Tangerang, Indonesia, Blueleaf Energy developed a 1.3 MW rooftop solar plant, as part of the beer maker’s “Brewed by the Sun” project. This installation, featuring 2,320 solar modules and nine inverters, generates approximately 1.5 GWh of clean, renewable energy annually.

This significant local initiative is a component of a broader partnership between Blueleaf Energy and Heineken, established in 2019. The “Brewed by the Sun” project itself is central to Heineken’s “Brew a Better World” sustainable development strategy, designed to substantially reduce the CO2 footprint of its production facilities by integrating solar power into their energy mixes. Through this alliance, Blueleaf has deployed nearly 10 MW of solar capacity for Heineken via similar onsite solar installations at Heineken’s brewery plants across three Southeast Asian nations, including a total of 2.6 MW in Indonesia (which also encompasses a 1.3 MW plant in Sampang), 1.2 MW in Thailand, and 1.9 MW in Malaysia.
